We're going for it this Friday. We were hoping to make this an official Guinness World Records attempt, but the certification fee is out of reach for us right now — so we're doing it anyway, organized to record standards with on-site registration, witnesses, stewards and video. No waiting on confirmation — see you Friday!

🏆 The record we're chasing
The largest line dance ever involved 18,431 participants, achieved by Beijing Redance League Technology Co. Ltd., Hebei, China on 7 November 2015. Our location's capacity will prevent us from beating that one.
But we're not doing line dance — we're doing Chinese square dancing. The square dance record was set in June 2017 in the United States at 1,632 people.

📋 The plan for Friday
Because this is last minute, we are not waiting for confirmation from Guinness World Records — we're going for it. Here's how the afternoon runs:
Registration opens
QR codes are posted around the park. Come anytime after 4 PM, scan to sign up, and get your spot.
Dance demonstration & instructions
We walk everyone through the exact sequence of moves — about 15–20 minutes before the attempt. Never danced before? This is for you.
The attempt begins
Ten minutes of Chinese square dancing. We may be delayed based on numbers, but 6 PM is the goal.
🕺 Dancers
We need 1,633+To beat the record we need at least 1,633 dancers. Record rules mean we can't register you in advance — so come by on Friday, anytime after 4:00 PM.
There will be QR codes posted around the event. Scan one to sign up — we need your name, contact email, and a digital signature, along with a timestamp of when you register. The judges may contact you to verify the attempt.
New to Chinese square dancing?
No problem. We'll have an instruction demonstration of the exact sequence of moves before the attempt — then we just loop the sequence for the full 10 minutes. Honestly, it's mostly following the person in front of you. 😄
The dance area
There will be color tape around the dance area. The judges need to see an enclosed area so they know exactly who's participating — so if a participant hasn't registered, they won't be permitted inside the taped area, unfortunately.
⚠️ No online sign-up — on-site QR only
Registration opens Friday at 4:00 PM at the park, and it can only be done there — scan one of the QR codes posted around the event to submit your name, email, and signature. There is no advance sign-up online.
🦺 Stewards
Sign up nowStewards supervise the dancers and mark down if, during the dance, anyone stops dancing. We'll be attempting to dance for 10 minutes — the record minimum is only 5, so a full 10 is a strong statement. We need enough stewards to cover everyone in formation.
You can register to be a steward on our website right now — it takes about 30 seconds and we'll email you your code and day-of instructions.

We need 2 official witnesses for the attempt. Record rules require them to be Legal & Civic officials — a government official or police officer — or Education leaders — a principal or university professor — or Medical professionals — a doctor or surgeon.
We may need a couple of volunteers for this! If you (or someone you know) fits the bill and can make it Friday, please sign up as a steward and note your profession, or reach out to us on TikTok.
Parking
We know — parking is going to be a headache. We've posted information on where to park on our website under the FAQ section. Almost everyone will likely need to park nearby and walk over, so plan a little extra time.
